Besan Ka Chilla/Besan ka Puda

Thin pancakes made from Gram Flour

2 CupsGram Flour/Besan
0.5 CupGreen Coriander Leaves
3 Finely Chopped Green Chillies
1 SmallFinely Chopped Onion (optional)
1 TeaspoonCoriander Powder
Salt to Taste
2 TablespoonsCooking Oil
1 TablespoonAniseed (optional)



  1. In a bowl add all the ingredients and make a smooth batter.

  2. Now heat griddle or non stick Tava or flat pan and rub 1 teaspoon of oil on it. Make sure Tava is not too hot as Chilla is supposed to be made on medium flame. Its always better to cook on small burner at medium high flame than bigger burner with low flame.

  3. Now pour 2 tablespoon of batter on the tava batter should not be thick and spread it on the tava in circular shape. Wait 30-50 seconds for it to be done on one side.

  4. When one side is done turn it over and cook other side.

  5. Serve with butter, chuttney or achar
