Egg Dahi Masala

Boiled eggs in a delicious spicy yogurt based curry

Ingredients

6 LargeHard Boiled Eggs
1 LargeFinely Chopped Onion
1.5 CupYogurt
1 TablespoonGarlic Paste
1 TablespoonFinely Chopped Green Chillies
1 TeaspoonGinger
3 CupsCooking Oil

Dry Spices

1 TeaspoonCumin Seeds
1 TeaspoonFennel Seeds
1 SmallCinnamon Stick broken in Pieces
2 Cloves Crushed
0.5 TeaspoonNutmeg Powder
1 TeaspoonRed Chili Powder
1 TablespoonCoriander Powder
1 TablespoonGaram Masala
Salt To Taste
0.5 CupCooking Oil

For Garnishing

2 TablespoonsFinely Chopped Green Coriander leaves

 

Method

  1. Heat 3 cups of oil in a frying pan. Peel the eggs and gently poke them with fork. Deep fry the eggs at medium flame and then keep them aside.

  2. In another frying pan heat half cup of oil and add cumin to it after 30 seconds add fennel, cloves, cinnamon, to it. Fry them for 30 seconds then add onions to it.

  3. Cook the onions till they turn golden brown then add green chilli, garlic, and ginger paste and cook it for 1 minute.

  4. Now add turmeric powder, garam masala, nutmeg powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder to it and cook it for another 1 minute at medium flame.

  5. Whisk the yogurt with half cup of water is its still thick add some more water and mix it well. Now add this to the frying pan.

  6. Cook it for 2 minutes and keep stirring it. Add fried eggs to it. and cook it for another 2 minutes at medium flame.

  7. Now add salt to it and cook it for another 1 minute. Remove it from the flame garnish it with green coriander leaves and serve it with rice, parantha ore chapatti.

When you mix yogurt with water , the quantity of water depends upon the thickness of yogurt.
