Palak Paneer

Tasty Cottage cheese dish in a thick Spinach gravy

Serving 6-8 persons

Cooking Time: 20 minutes

 

Ingredients

2 PoundSpinach
250 GramsCottage Cheese
1 LargeFinely Chopped Onion
3 TablespoonsTomato Paste
1 TablespoonGinger Paste
1 TablespoonFinely Chopped Green Chillies
1 TeaspoonGarlic Paste
1 TablespoonCorn Flour
0.5 CupCooking Oil

Dry Spices

1 TeaspoonCumin Seeds
1 TablespoonCoriander Powder
1 TeaspoonTurmeric Powder
1 TeaspoonGaram Masala
Salt To Taste

For Garnishing

1 TablespoonCream

 

Method

  1. Cut spinach and pressure cook it with half cup of water and 1 tea spoon of salt. If you don't have a pressure cooker u can boil it in a pan till the leaves tenderizes. Pour it in a blender and if u feel it has lot of water u can strain it and reserve the water as we may need it latter.

  2. It a frying pan or skillet heat the oil and add cumin seeds when starts crackling add finely chopped onions. When onions turns light brown add ginger garlic and green chili paste mix it well and cook it well for 2-3 minutes.

  3. Add Dry Spices one by one mix it well and add 2 table spoon of water from the reserve. Cook it well for another 2-3 minutes. Add Tomato paste and a 2 table spoons of water from reserve and cook it till the paste separates from the oil. Now add Spinach Paste cook it at medium flame for 5 minutes add corm flour mix it well.

  4. Now add cheese cubes cover the top of the pan n cook it for another 5 minutes at medium flame.

  5. Remove it from the flame and garnish it with cream.

  6. Palak Paneer can be served with Chapattis and Paranthas.
