Allo Palak

Potatoes and Spinach with spices

Serving 4-6 persons

Cooking Time: 25 minutes



1 Bunches of Spinach
4 LargePotatoes
1 LargeFinely Chopped Onion
2 TablespoonsTomato Paste
2 Finely Chopped Green Chillies
1 TablespoonGinger Paste
1 TeaspoonGarlic Paste
0.5 CupCooking oil

Dry Spices

1 TeaspoonCumin Seeds/ Zeera
1 TeaspoonGaram Masala
1 TeaspoonTurmeric Powder/ Haldi
1 TablespoonCoriander Powder
Salt To Taste



  1. Wash and cut spinach. Peel wash and dice potato in small cubes.

  2. Heat oil in large skillet, when it is simmering hot add cumin seeds to it when it turns brown add onions to it.

  3. Fry onions till it turns brown and then add green chillies, ginger and garlic paste.

  4. Fry it for 2 minutes and then add turmeric powder, coriander, salt and garam masala to it.

  5. Fry it for 1 minute then add tomato paste to it. Fry it for another 2-4 minutes then add potatoes to it. Add half cup of water cover it with an lid and cook it for 5 minutes .

  6. Add spinach to it and cook it till potatoes get tender with lid on and keep stirring in between.

  7. Serve it hot with chapatti or parantha.
