Moong Dal Khichadi

Healthy simple Green Bean and rice dish

Serving 4-6 persons

1 CupSplit Mung Dal Without Husk
1 CupRegular Thick Rice (No basmati)
1 TeaspoonZeera (Cumin Seeds)
2 TablespoonsCooking Oil (Of Your Choice)
0.5 TeaspoonTurmeric Powder (Haldi) Optional
6 CupsWater
Salt To Taste



  1. Clean and wash rice and dal seperatly.

  2. In a pressure cooker heat oil add cumin seeds. When cumin change color add turmeric powder and salt.

  3. Add dal , rice and water close the pressure cooker and cook for 10 minutes or till 2 whistle. Remove the cooker from the flame.

  4. Serve it hot with yogurt or with clarified butter (Desi Ghee).

This dish is very good if you have a bad stomach, fever, indigestion. You can decide the consistency of this dish add more water to make it watery or reduce water to make it thick.
